Park access is the recurring one. Reservation systems, shuttle changes, road closures on the Blue Ridge Parkway and in the Smokies, and the annual argument about whether timed entry is coming to places that have so far resisted it.
The second recurring item is pricing. Lodging rates across the corridor from Gatlinburg to Blue Ridge move sharply between the first week of October and the third, and the movement is public information that almost nobody publishes as information.
Beyond that, ordinary regional news continues through the fall and does not stop being important because the leaves are turning.
