Anjali Whitaker

Anjali Whitaker edits Outdoors and Eat & Drink for Upper South Journal. She came up through food writing for regional and national publications and spent two years working the floor at a Southern distillery before deciding she preferred writing about whiskey to making it. She married into a long-rooted Alabama family; she keeps her grandmother's recipe for Hyderabadi biryani in regular rotation alongside her mother-in-law's cornbread, and the two women now share custody of the recipe box. She covers a lot of ground on the Sipsey Wilderness trails on weekends.
