Emory Ashford

Emory Ashford covers eat and drink for Upper South Journal. They spent three years at a natural wine importer up in Brooklyn before moving to Chattanooga in 2023 for a slower life and a cheaper rent. They run an occasional pop-up dinner series out of a friend's restaurant in Chattanooga and write a small newsletter about Japanese pantry staples in Southern kitchens, a subject they came to through their mother, who grew up in Osaka and raised them outside Knoxville. They are twenty-eight and argue about salt.
