Places, Travel, and Opinion from the Upper South

Lakeisha Bartholomew

Lakeisha Bartholomew writes features for Upper South Journal. She came up through HBCU journalism and a graduate program in the Midwest, then spent six years at a daily paper in West Tennessee covering communities and city hall before moving to Nashville. She has reported on housing displacement, the economics of regional festival circuits, and what Reconstruction-era cemeteries tell us about who gets remembered. She lives in Nashville, is slowly restoring a 1947 bungalow with her partner, and has been threatening to start a podcast about every house since 2023.
