Otis Macready writes road trips and outdoors pieces for Upper South Journal. He retired from a career as a high school history teacher in Atlanta in 2019 and moved to Dahlonega to be closer to his daughter and his record collection. He spent nearly two decades writing a regional music history column for various outlets and still keeps a spiral notebook in the glove box of a 1996 Ford F-150 he refuses to sell. He drives slowly on purpose.
